Just two out of the seven history-sheeters who contested the BBMP elections have won.

Imran Pasha, a history-sheeter who contested on the JD(S) ticket from the Padarayanapura ward in Chamarajpet Assembly constituency, emerged victorious.
But his father Arif Pasha, who also has a criminal record, lost in Bapujinagar. The father-son duo has over a dozen criminal cases against them.

Elumalai, who was denied the ticket by the Congress at the last minute, contested as an independent in Sagayapuram and won against another history-sheeter, Marimuthu, who is known as ‘Hooch Queen.’ Congress candidate Seema Althaf Khan, wife of history-sheeter Althaf Khan, won in JJ Nagar.

History-sheeter Ashwak Ahmed, the JD(S) candidate in Manorayanapalya, lost to Abdul Wajid of the Congress. Syed Mujahid, who was fielded by the JD(S) in Bharathinagar, lost to Shakeel Ahmed of the Congress. Notorious history-sheeter V K Praveen alias Malayali Praveen, who contested from the Sudhamanagar ward, lost to Congress’s R V Yuvaraj, whose father, R V Devaraj, is the party’s MLA from Chickpet.

Praveen, according to police records, has been into criminal activities since 1993 and is involved in no less than 66 cases, including murder, attempt to murder, dacoity, abduction, assault, extortion, forgery and cheating. There is a history-sheet against him at the Sampangiramanagar police station. Courts, however, acquitted him in several cases for want of evidence.
