Agitation continues

 The farmers’ agitation demanding implementation of Mahadayi-Malaprabha river linking and Kalasa-Banduri nala projects continued in Nargund in Gadag district and Navalgund in Dharwad district on Sunday too.

A large number of farmers arrived at Nargund on their bikes and tractors to express support to the Raitha Sena’s dharna which is being staged for the past 39 days.

They took out separate protest rallies and later blocked the National Highway, condemning the State and Union governments for the delay in taking steps to implement the projects.   
A group of farmers from Badami taluk led by Mamatageri’s Ramaroodhamutt Atmananda Swami staged a dharna on the highway.  Later, hundreds of farmers from nearby villages took out a bike rally. They said that the agitation would not be stopped till the governments take adecision on the projects.

NH blocked  

In Navalgund, farmers blocked the National Highway in support of the Naragund farmers’ agitation. Farmers from Tadahal and supported the agitation, by staging a dharna on the highway.

The farmers said that the elected representatives should convince the prime minister about the importance of the projects bring the farmers’ woes to the notice of the Centre.
