Top-seed Abhishek Yelligar recorded a convincing win over Daniel S Farid to clinch the men’s title in the Karnataka State- badminton tournament on Friday.

Coming on the back of an exhausting tie in the semifinal on Thursday, the Dharwad shuttler showed no signs of fatigue as he despatched off Farid, a student of the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy (PPBA), 21-14, 21-17 in the final of the men’s singles.

However, Farid too had his say on the day’s proceedings as he shrugged of his earlier disappointment to pocket the singles title in the U-19 category.

The Bengaluru shuttler got the better of Sahil Sipani 21-15, 21-14 in the summit clash.

Treble for Shikha

Carrying on her good form, another PPBA student, Shikha Gautam, clinched her third titles of the meet, winning the U-19 singles final on the concluding day.

Once again pitted against her academy-mate Mahima Aggarwal, Shikha hardly had to put up a fight as Mahima pulled out retired hurt, trailing 0-1 in the first game.

Boys: U-19: Singles: Daniel S Farid bt Sahil Sipani 21-15, 21-14.
Girls: Singles: Shikha Gautam bt Mahima Aggarwal 1-0 (Ret.)
