Naveen Patnaik-led ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha has reacted strongly to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to declare a financial package for Bihar without announcing the same for the state.

Like Bihar, Odisha too has been demanding a special monetary package from the Centre. Modi had declared the Bihar package during his trip to the election bound state on Tuesday.

“The Centre’s step-motherly attitude towards Odisha has once again been exposed following the prime minister’s Bihar package. We have always been neglected by the Centre irrespective of the government there. We will continue our fight against this injustice,” said senior BJD legislator and party spokesperson, Pratap Jena.

The legislators of the regional outfit also raised the Bihar package issue in the state assembly on Wednesday.

The BJD legislators were seen shouting slogan holding anti-Centre placards in their hands. Some of them also marched into the well of the house.

The Speaker Niranjan Pujari had to adjourn the proceedings as opposition Congress MLAs also rushed to the well shouting slogans and holding placards, posters and banners in their hands on other issues like deteriorating law and order situation. The house could run only for two minutes.
