Kannada directors protest CCI decision on dubbing

 The Kannada Film Directors Association, joined by the Dr Rajkumar Fans Association, observed a silent protest on Sunday to raise their voice against the dubbing and/or releasing other language films/TV serials into Kannada. 

Kannada film directors, film and television artistes, members of Dr Rajkumar Fans Association, 500 in number, registered their protest against the Competition Commission of India’s  (CCI) decision, to penalise three film and TV bodies for restraining the release of dubbed content in the State, at Raj Samadhi on the premises of Kanteerava Studios off Outer Ring Road and at Vishnuvardhan Memorial at Abhiman Studio, Thurahalli.
  
Dr Rajkumar Fans Association President and Kannada film producer Sa Ra Govindu said: “The dubbing issue exists since the year 1962. Dubbing and release of other language films and TV serials into Kannada was not allowed for quite long. In the last three to four years the issue returned to haunt us. Come what may, we will not allow dubbing of other language movies to happen.”

On the CCI decision to penalise Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), Karnataka Television Association (KTVA) and Kannada Film Producers Association (KFPA), Sa Ra Govindu said, “The three organisations have still not paid the fine and will file an appeal with the competent authority.”

He said that a meeting will be called on August 8 by Kannada Okkoota, an umbrella body of Kannada organisations, to discuss the next course of action on the dubbing issue.
