Rethink denial of permission for wind energy plant, CCF told

Last Updated 30 July 2015, 19:37 IST

A top official in the Forest department has written to the Ballari chief conservator of forests (CCF) to rethink an earlier decision by the department to reject permission for the 2.5-megawatt wind energy plant promoted by the Baldota group.

Ponnata Sridhar, the additional principal chief conservator of forests, had in 2013 denied permission for the facility on the grounds that Gunda in the taluk, the site for the proposed plant, was part of a protected forest and was adjacent to a deemed forest.

Ramgad mines and minerals company of the Baldota group is the project promoter.
M Madan Gopal, the principal secretary of the Forest department, has routed a letter to the Ballari chief conservator of forests through the principal chief conservator of forests, on reconsidering the earlier decision.

But Vijaylal Meena, the chief conservator of forests, is yet to act on the matter.
