A 42-year-old principal of a private school was found murdered in front of his house at Avalahalli in Hoskote taluk on Monday night.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as K N Rao, a founder-member and principal of Medashri Olympiad School in Hoskote.

Rao, a native of Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, was residing with his wife Nancharamma and an eight-year-old daughter at a rented house in Avalahalli. He was working as a public relations officer (PRO) at Narayana Olympiad School in Hoskote and had quit the job two years ago as he was transferred to one of their branches in Kolkata. Around two months ago, he started his own school in Hoskote, the police said.

On Monday evening, he told his wife that he would be going out on a personal work and would return home in a couple of hours. Around 9 pm, Nancharamma called him on his mobile phone and he told her that he was in Mandur and would return home in some time.
The wife and the daughter retired to bed assuming that he would come home late in the night, said the police.

The police added that when the wife woke up in the morning, she found Rao hadn’t returned home.

She opened the door and found his car which was parked in a vacant land near the house. She also noticed that the door of the car was opened and was shocked to find her husband lying in a pool of blood. She raised an alarm and the neighbours informed the police about the incident.

A police officer said: “The body was shifted for postmortem. The dog squad and the fingerprint experts were pressed into service. The family members and his friends are being questioned.

“We have obtained a few vital clues. It is suspected that persons known to him committed the crime. The motive for the murder is yet to be ascertained.”

A case has been registered at the Avalahalli police station and investigation is being carried out.
