'Med seat aspirant' held for impersonation bid at ComedK counselling

 A “medical seat aspirant” in the ComedK counselling has been arrested by the police for attempting impersonation in the seat selection process.

The ComedK is conducting seat counselling for admissions to undergraduate medical courses. Monday was the first day of Round One of medical counselling.

During the process, officials caught the candidate red-handed even as he was trying to take the place of  a candidate who has secured 56th rank in the ComedK test. The original rank of the arrested candidate is said to be 10,156.

ComedK officials told Deccan Herald that immediately after they found out the candidate's attempt to bluff his way through the counselling, they alerted the police and handed him over to them.

The candidate is said to be hailing from Delhi. Jayanagar police registered an FIR on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, on the second day of the seat counselling on Tuesday, all the medical seats were taken and the counselling process got over within two hours of opening, according to ComedK officials. By the end of the day, about 105 medical seats meant for Christian minority, Tulu and H-K region candidates were vacant.
