Last Updated 10 July 2015, 21:11 IST

Even as the results of second round CET seat counselling are out, several students who are participating in the JEE (Advanced) counselling process for seats in IITs, fear that they might run out of options.

The reason being, KEA has already completed two rounds of counselling while the second round of seat allotment for seats through JEE (Advanced) will be announced only on July 13. On the other hand, candidates dependent only on the CET counselling, fear that the seats allotted to candidates who are also participating in the JEE counselling, would go waste, if they surrender it in the last minute.

KEA officials have allayed fears of students. They need not panic as the Authority plans to hold a second extended round of counselling, KEA official Gangadhariah told Deccan Herald. Students who want to wait for the third round of seat counselling through JEE (Advanced), the allocation for which will be announced only on July 18, will still have an option of securing seat through CET. The KEA will announce the seat matrix for second extended round on July 17. The option entry for this round will begin only by July 20. This would also mean that, the seats surrendered by candidates, who have secured a seat in the IITs in the third round, will be made available to CET candidates in the second extended round.
