Madappa rallies

Viraj Madappa battled back on day three of Taiwan Amateur Golf Championship, shooting a three-under 69 to share the lead with Thailand’s Sadom Kaewkanjana at the Sunrise Golf & Country Club.

Madappa’s compatriot Aman Raj, current leader of the IGU men’s amateur Order of Merit, dropped down to tied 6th after carding a round of four-over 76.

The 17-year-old Madappa started the third day from 10th tee and fired birdies on 13th, 14th, 6th, seventh and eighth holes.

With the greens becoming quicker than the last two days, Madappa lost a bit of control and ended up making a bogey on the 15th and a double bogey on 17th for the three day total of five-under 211.
