BEO asked to register lands of government schools

Taluk Panchayat President Kandanda Prathija Acchappa and Executive Officer P K Achaiah directed the BEO to register the katha of the lands belonging to government schools, during the KDP review meeting in Madikeri, on Wednesday.

BEO Ramaswamy said, out of 135 schools in the taluk, the land of 60 schools have been registered in the name of the head teachers. 

The files pertaining to 33 schools are pending in the Tahsildar’s office and eight schools in the AC’s office. Daana patra of 31 schools have not been registered. So, it would be difficult to register the land. Two schools are on forest lands, he said.

Free seeds

Taluk Agriculture Officer Girish said, seeds, fertilisers and insecticides have been stored for distribution to farmers. “Free seeds would be supplied to farmers from SC/ST communities if they furnish details on RTC and caste certificates,” he said.

Horticulture department Assistant Officer Pramod said, five orange saplings will be distributed to each school under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. The farmers will be given orange saplings at Rs 10 each, he added.

Animal Husbandry department Officer Chidananda said, the State government has implemented ‘Pashu Bhagya’ scheme and subsidy will be provided for rearing cattle, and poultry.
