JOIN USThe Lokayukta police on Saturday registered four more FIRs against former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa and others, including former MLA Nandish Reddy and former member of Parliament G S Basavaraju.
The FIRs pertain to denotifications in Chellakere, Lottegollahalli, Halagevaderahalli and Mahalakshmi Layout.
In the first case, the BDA had acquired land in Chellakere for “scheme between Banaswadi and Hennur Road”.
The original land owners in survey numbers 100/1 and 100/2 sought exemption of 15 guntas of land from the acquisition process on the ground that three residential buildings and tombs of ancestors existed there. The matter had reached the High Court twice and the BDA was directed to consider the application. While the BDA resolved not to denotify the land, the then chief minister Yeddyurappa issued orders denotifying the land, treating it as a special case. Nandish Reddy had recommended the denotification.
In Lottegollahalli, Yeddyurappa had denotified 33 guntas of land in survey number 1/1 in favour of one person on the basis of his representation, while the khatedar, as per the final notification for RMV 2nd Stage Layout, was different. The Comptroller and Auditor General report stated that it was evident that the person had purchased the land after the final notification. The then chief minister, however, ordered denotification.
In Halagevaderahalli case, the BDA had acquired land in survey number 251 for the formation of Banashankari 5th Stage Layout. Between June 2007 and October 2009, many elected representatives, including former MP from Tumkur, G S Basavaraju, had recommended to the chief minister to denotify this land. The purchasers of the land sought denotification on the ground that they had purchased it with the primary objective of imparting free education to children belonging to poor families. On the contrary, after getting the lands denotified, they were sold to various builders when the guidance value was as high as Rs 2,500 per sq ft.
The fourth FIR on Saturday was about denotification of one acre of land in survey number 117 of J B Kaval village, notified for the extension of Mahalakshmi Layout. The then chief minister denotified the land and later withdrew the order after a public interest litigation was filed in the matter.
