Heavy rain continued to pound coastal districts on Thursday while Shivamogga received intermittent showers.

Kollur, Byndoor, Yed-amogge, Halihole, Siddhapura, Shankarnarayana, Amparu (all in Kundapur taluk), Sanoor, Edu, Bollottu, Sanoor, Hebri, Shivapura (In Karkala taluk) and Kaup, Brahmavara, Udyavara, Katpadi and Tenkayermal (in Udupi taluk), received good rains.

In Dakshina Kannada too, few areas received good rains in the evening and night. Though Mangaluru did not receive heavy rains in the day, the sea has already turned violent and huge waves have started hitting the shores.

Unlike Wednesday, when parts of Kodagu district received heavy rains, on Thursday, Madikeri, Virajpet and Somwarpet received normal rains. However, thick fog engulfed the coffee land forcing the vehicle users to switch on head lights even during the day time.

While few parts of Chikkamagaluru district received normal rains, a few areas including Aldur and Balehonnur received heavy rains.

A huge tree fell on the road, blocking the Chikkamagalur-Mangaluru highway for about four hours. Another huge tree fell on Basaravalli bus stand and damaged the bus shelter. However, no one was injured in the incident.

Heavy rains pummelled parts of Uttara Kannada district. Karwar, Ankola, Kumta, Honnavar and Bhatkal received copious rain since morning. Strong winds blew away roof tiles of some houses while electricity poles were uprooted at some places.

Shivamogga

Several parts of the district received intermittent rain on Thursday. Shivamogga, Bhadravathi, Thirthahalli, Sorab, Shikaripur received intermittent rain throughout the day since morning.

Sagar and Hosanagar received rain towards the evening. The district witnessed cloudy weather throughout the day. The good spell of rain has triggered agricultural operations in the district.
