Intermittent rains continue to lash Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada

 Intermittent rain continued to lash coastal districts, Dakshina Kannada district and Western Ghats regions on Wednesday.

Udupi district – Brahmavara, Giliyara, Haluvalli, Kalthuru, Nandikur and Ambalpadi – received heavy rainfall on Wednesday. While the interior areas of Kundapur – Basrur, Byndoor, Gangolli, Hallihole, Shankaranarayana, Thekatte, Halady, Maravanthe, Kollur and Karkala taluks received heavy rains. Other regions in the district received moderate rain.

Dakshina Kannada

Intermittent rains lashed Dakshina Kannada district and Western Ghats regions through the day on Wednesday. A huge tree was uprooted on the Uppinangady-Subrahmanya Road at Bilinele and disrupting the movement of vehicles for sometime. Forest officials cleared the road.

Fishermen have been warned not to venture into sea for the next 24 hours as strong winds from westerly to northwesterly direction with speed occasionally reaching 45 to 55 kmph are likely along and off Karnataka coast.

Karwar

Monsoons have gained momentum in the district which continued to receive intermittent rainfall.  Several low-lying areas were flooded following heavy rains in Karwar. Several roads were waterlogged and vehicular movement was disrupted.

Hebri, Ajekaru, Belman, Renjala, Nadpalu, Marne, Sanoor, and Shirlalu received heavy rainfall. Bhatkal, Honnavar, Kumata, Ankola, Sirsi and Siddapura received intermittent all day. Semi-arid Haliyala, Mundagod and Dandeli received moderate rainfall.

Kodagu

Kodagu district received an average of 1.2 cm rainfall. Madikeri, Virajpet and Somwarpet received moderate rains. The water-level in Harangi reservoir stood at 2806.80 feet and the water inflow was 133 cusecs. Chikkamagaluru district received drizzling rain through the day. A few places in Sringeri, Koppa and Mudigere received moderate rainfall.

Shivamogga

Intermittent rain accompanied by strong winds lashed several parts of the district.
Shivamogga, Bhadravathi, Sagar and Shikaripur received a good spell of rain in the morning. Vehicular movement between Kargal and Henni in Sagar was disrupted for a while as a tree branch fell onto the road.

Thirthahalli, Hosanagara and Sorab also received a good of spell of rain towards the evening. Power supply was disrupted in some parts of the district. Rain seemed to have gained momentum in the district.
