Students can access degree results at MU open house: VC

The results of students pursuing BCom, BSc, BCA and BSW courses will be made available to the students visiting Mangalore University to take part in Open house, on June 12 and 13.

Briefing mediapersons here on Wednesday, Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof K Byrappa said that the results of 37,999 BCom students, 6,019 BSc, 3,774 BCA and 816 BSW students can be accessed through wi-fi facilities at the university campus. The results can be accessed through intranet facility. It will be hosted on the university website on June 14. The wi-fi will provide access to only the results in the university website.

The VC said that the open house is aimed at showcasing the facilities in the departments, activities being carried out by the faculty and the scholars, the milestones and the important contributions of the departments, extra mural funding from various national / international funding agencies, industries sponsored programmes and also avenues and opportunities after completing the course. The students and the parents will have an opportunity to visit the departments of their choices, to have first hand information about the library, and information systems, hostel accommodation, sports facilities, cyber facilities, advanced science research facilities such as CARRT, Microtron, PURSE, Carer. The open house is first of its kind and is expecting the graduates and students to visit the university campus along with their parents.  The open house will be inaugurated by Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khader at 10 am.

Bus facilities
The university has arranged bus facilities for students from various pick-up points in the city to its Mangalagangothri campus and to drop them back on both days. The pick up points are KSRTC bus stand, Jyothi, Kankanady, Pumpwell and Thokkottu, at 9 am, 10 am, 11 am, 12 noon from KSRTC.

Help desks will be set up at bus stop, opposite Mangala auditorium, entrance arch on double road and Mangala canteen. At the help desk, the students will be provided with the brochure and map to reach various departments. The total number of seats available in 37 PG courses offered by 24 departments in university campus is 1,129.  Meanwhile, 212 seats are available in six PG courses at PG Centre in Chikkaluvara; 116 seats are available in four PG courses offered at University College in Mangaluru; and 86 seats are available in three PG courses offered by FMKMC in Madikeri.  Application forms for PG courses too will be made available on the spot, he said, adding banks too have been requested to set up stalls, at the Mangala auditorium to remit the application fee and also to provide guidance on availing education loan if needed.

International students
Stating that the Mangalore University will admit atleast 150 international students for PG and PhD programmes during the academic year, he said arrangements have been made to provide hostel facilities to the foreign students. An international house to accommodate foreign students will come up in the university campus premises by next year, he informed.

Admissions
At present, two seats in each course is reserved for outside university students. From this year, if the seats lay vacant, then it will be given to outside university students.
