JOIN USBharatiya Janata Party leader and former Delhi MLA Vijay Jolly has complained that emails are being sent from a fake ID in his name, defaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The email claims that the party has an office in the United Kingdom and Modi has decided to strengthen intelligence and secret service in India.
It offers a salary of Rs 85 lakh per year to recruits, but demands a registration fee of Rs 10 lakh.
A case was filed with Delhi Police after Jolly lodged a complaint with Delhi Police Commissioner Bhim Sain Bassi.
“A false and mischievous email with heading BJP New Vision Secret Service has been sent out in my name from a newly created email account. I was travelling overseas when this came to my notice,” Jolly stated in his complaint.
The matter came to the fore after Jolly was shown a copy of an email by BJP Secretary and former Delhi MLA Ravinder Pal Singh. The email with Singh was sent on April 24.
Jolly claimed that the contents are derogatory and seem to be malicious so as to defame the Prime Minister, the party and him as a BJP leader.
“It also says that Jolly is a powerful man and the matter pertains to the security of India,” a police officer added.
On the basis of Jolly’s complaint, a case under Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act has been filed with the Economic Offences Wing police station on Wednesday.
The charges are of cheating by personation and attempt to commit offences punishable with life imprisonment.
Jolly has distanced himself with the email ID and told police that he uses only three IDs: vijayjollybjp325@gmail.com, vijayjollybjp2011@gmail.com and dsgngo@gmail.com.
Currently, Jolly is BJP National Executive Committee member, All India In-charge of BJP Foreign Cell and In-charge of BJP Tripura. He was also MLA from south Delhi’s Saket from 2003 to 2008.
