Driver drowns in lake

A 30-year-old car driver met a watery grave in Kadiganahalli lake near Chikkajala on Thursday evening.

The police identified the deceased as Farooq Shah, a native of Kunigal. 

On Thursday evening, Shah had come to the City along with three friends on a personal visit. They went towards Kadiganahalli lake. Shah decided to wash his car and took the vehicle near the lakebed. He stepped into the water, ventured a little further and started drowning.

His friends sitting on the lakebed noticed Shah drowning and started shouting for help.

Passersby tried to rescue Shah, but in vain. They informed the police, who with the help of fire service and emergency personnel, retrieved the body.

A case has been registered in the Chikkajala police station.
