Reliance Jio puts 4G roll out on fast track

Reliance Jio Infocomm (RJIL), the subsidiary of Reliance Industries (RIL), is working on a war footing to roll out its 4G services across the country as soon as possible.

“RJIL is actively involved in setting up a robust sales and distribution network through a chain of distributors and retailers across the country. RJIL is already working on creating a world class customer support experience,” RIL said in its annual report.

RJIL is rolling out physical office infrastructure across 880 cities/towns across India. RJIL continues to hire talent for various positions across all locations where work is on for services launch, RIL added in its annual report.

According to the annual report, RJIL has exhibited trial 4G services at various techfest, college events, trade shows.

Participants at some of these events were also provided a glimpses of various products RJIL is working on, including gaming, e-payment through mobile phone, video conferencing, TV programmes, video on demand, and many more. RJIL is the only private player with broadband wireless access (BWA) spectrum in all the 22 telecom circles of India.

It plans to provide fast internet connectivity through the 20 MHz, contiguous, pan-India BWA spectrum.  RJIL has also successfully acquired 1,800 MHz spectrum across 14 key circles in February 2014, the annual report states.

ONGC to take over Tapti JV

As far as the Tapti joint venture is concerned, RIL stated that ONGC will take over the facilities during the second half of the current fiscal.

Ambani salary capped at Rs 15 cr

Reliance Industries' Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani kept his annual salary capped at Rs 15 crore for the seventh year in a row even as the remuneration of most directors declined marginally. Ambani, has kept salary, perquisites, allowances, and commission at Rs 15 crore since 2008-09, foregoing almost Rs 24 crore per annum, the annual report said.
