The High Court directed the tahsildar, Bengaluru South taluk to look into the applications of the residents of Sarakki lake on April 28.

The petitioners, residents of Sarakki lake, were issued notices for demolition of their buildings owing to illegal encroachment.

A division bench comprising Justices S K Mukherjee and B V Nagarathna, while disposing of the petitions, directed the tahsildar to pass orders with regard to their structures on or before June 1.

The petitioners, A Shivaprasad and nine others, had approached the court seeking status quo to be maintained after they were issued notices by the tahsildar, stating that their houses were illegal structures on the lake bed. However, the government counsel submitted that the demolition of the buildings had already been carried out. The court passed an order to maintain status quo and to hear the residents and pass the orders by June 1.
