Girl molested by computer teacher

A computer teacher with Ramjas School in north Delhi’s Anand Parvat was arrested on Saturday for reportedly molesting a class 7 student. The girl complained to her parents on Friday, who, along with other parents, met the school’s principal Sandhya Bindal on Saturday

According to the school authorities, the school had tied up with NIIT to impart computer training to its students. The accused teacher, Vinod Kumar, was on NIIT pay roll.

Following the complaint, Vinod’s services have been terminated by the school management. On Saturday, another student of the school complained to her parents against the teacher. Sources said Vinod had molested at least 14 students.

“The victims have joined a WhatsApp group and are debating the issue. Fed up with the molestation, some of them were bunking classes for the past couple of days,” a parent, Rahul Bisht, told Deccan Herald. Police are planning to question the members of the WhatsApp group to frame final charges against Vinod. They have also analysed the CCTV footage of the school.

Divesh Gupta, manager of the school, told Deccan Herald that Vinod had joined the school on April 1.

“It has been confirmed that Vinod used to molest students. The incident is unfortunate and we will not tolerate such cases," he said.

Vinod used to teach students of class 7 to 9. It is also alleged that Vinod threatened his victims and warned them of dire consequences if they complained to their parents.

However, on Friday, the class 7 student told her parents that she was held captive and molested by Vinod. The parents complained to the school authorities, who told them to attend a meeting on Saturday. After going through the complaint, the school’s principal called the police control room and Vinod was arrested on the school premises.

A case under Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered with Anand Parvat police station. Vinod faces charges of molestation and wrongful confinement.
