Chief Minister Siddaramaiah promised 24x7 power supply to Mysuru taluk, at Udbur village, near here, on Tuesday.

Speaking at the launch of several developmental works, he said, the government was working towards implementing the project. However, he did not divulge any details on it.

Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said, Rs 195 crore has been sanctioned for Chamarajanagar for an urban water supply project. Water will be drawn from Cauvery River for Chamarajanagar.

Similarly, Rs 133 crore has been sanctioned for Gundlupet for a water supply project. The government has also sanctioned underground drainage projects for Saragur and H D Kote, he said. The government is planning to build 2,000 houses under Mysuru City Corporation limits for the benefit of urban poor.

The address by Chamu-ndeshwari MLA G T Devegowda, the only JD(S) MLA at the venue, created a flutter during the programme. After seeking funds to the tune of Rs 100 crore for developmental works in the constituency, Devegowda went on to say that he was the first person to bat for Chief Ministership for Siddaramaiah. He said, he had backed Siddaramaiah, whenever the latter’s name sprung up for the post.

The comment evoked an angry reaction from the partymen, prompting police personnel to control a few leaders on stage. With the crowd raising their voice against the remarks, Siddaramaiah stepped in to address the gathering and succeeded in pacifying it.
