The Supreme Court is likely to hear on Tuesday a Public Interest Litigation filed by the nonprofit, Samaj Parivartan Samudaya (SPS), alleging misconduct by former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, former minister Gali Janardhana Reddy and Rajendra Kumar Jain, the head of Deccan Mining Syndicate.

The PIL urges the court to order that hearing be conducted into the illegal mining case every day, the SPS chief S R Hiremath told reporters here on Monday.

The case was fast-tracked earlier but hearing has been delayed now, he claimed. Hence, the SPS moved the top court and senior counsel Prashant Bhushan will represent the SPS during the two-hour special hearing, he added.

The court has been pleaded to dismiss the petition filed by Yeddyurappa for quashing all cases against him. Besides, the court should speed up the investigation against the Shivamogga MP, Hiremath said.

The SPS has also written an eight-page letter to CBI director Anil Kumar Sinha, urging him to make sure that the judgment given by the Supreme Court is enforced and investigation taken up in a fair manner. Hiremath also demanded a probe against Reddy’s former lawyer, Raghavacharyalu, who had met the CBI’s former director Ranjit Sinha 54 times.
