Errors in PU Maths paper

Last Updated 28 March 2015, 20:47 IST

The second year Pre-University examinations concluded on Saturday. This year, about 6.10 lakh candidates wrote the exam which began from March 12. Initially, the examinations were scheduled to get over by March 27. However, on account of IAS officer D K Ravi’s death, the Mathematics examination was rescheduled. This exam was conducted on Saturday.

According to lecturers in prominent tutorials in the City, there were two errors in the paper.
The first error was related to question 50 (a) where in, instead of the word “fabricating” it has been wrongly printed as “finishing”. Since the problem stated was about the number of hours for fabricating and finishing, the wrong print in one part of the question could confuse students, the lecturers said. This question was for 6 marks.

In question 48 which is a choice-based question, the number 5 is missing in the (C) option which led to confusion. This question is for 5 marks.

Director of the Department of Pre-University Education Sushama Godbole told Deccan Herald that an expert committee would look into this discrepancy and if it was corroborated by the committee, the department would give grace marks to students for these questions.
