'Modi govt for corporates welfare'

Welfare Party of India has been formed to bring in communal harmony and ward off superstitions and corruption, said Welfare Party of India National Vice President and former minister B T Lalitha Nayak.

Speaking after inaugurating the district-level party workers convention in Madikeri on Friday, she said “India was known for its peace and unity. However, a few miscreants are sowing the seed of hatred in the recent years. There is a need to initiate stringent action against those who loot mines, assault women.”

“Acche Din of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not for the poor but for the corporates. To help the corporates, the Centre has brought in amendments to Land Acquisition Act,” she added.

SSLC exams

Preparations have been made for the smooth conduct of SSLC examinations in Kodagu district from March 30 to April 13, said DDPI G R Basavaraju.

The district has 30 examination centres including 10 in Virajpet and nine in Madikeri, with a total of  9,054 candidates expected to appear for the exams. Deputy Commissioner Anurag Tewari has clamped prohibitory order in the raidus of 200 metres of the exam centres. District and taluk level squads have been formed to check any malpractices.
