A businessman has been arrested for submitting forged invoices of Gujarat State Board of School Textbooks for obtaining a loan of Rs 15 crore from Industrial Finance Corporation of India, police said on Tuesday.

Culprit Amit Kumar Gupta, 40, is a resident of south Delhi’s Vasant Vihar and managing director of Shree Shyam Pulp and Board Mills. A probe was initiated after Industrial Finance Corporation of India complained with Kalkaji police station in September 2014.

“After registration of the case, the matter was transferred to Economic Offences Wing police station for investigation,” said Mangesh Kashyap, Deputy Commissioner of Police (EOW).
Shree Shyam Pulp and Board Mills is a paper-manufacturing company with its base in Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar district.

During investigation, it was revealed that Gujarat State Board of School Textbooks had never issued any order for supply of papers to the firm.

“The Gujarat government had also never received any shipment from the firm,” Kashyap added.

The transport company did not exist at its given address and Rahul Marketing in whose name some invoices were raised also did not exist.

On Monday, Amit, who was absconding for several months, was arrested at Gole Market.
Role of other directors of the company as well as the officials of IFCI is also under scanner now, police said.
