Last Updated 19 March 2015, 01:38 IST

Three students faced expulsion after Sri Venkateswara College found that they had submitted forged documents, according to the college’s audit committee report submitted to the Delhi University this week.

In the report furnished to Joint Registrar (Academics) Ram Dutt, the college said it has expelled two students from 2013-14 batch and one from 2014-15 batch for submitting fake documents at the time of admission.

Sources say the expelled students Ashu Gautam, Sahil Gupta and Abhinav Sehgal were enrolled in BCom (Hons) and BA (Hons) Economics.

The college’s principal, P Hemlata Reddy, said the college detected the three fake admissions in August last year. A police complaint was lodged against the accused students, she added.

Last year, Delhi Police had detected a large-scale admission scam in DU colleges of south campus. Thirteen fake admissions were reported from Sri Venkateswara College alone.

To keep a check on forged documents, the administrative officers at colleges rely on information provided by the university in CDs, which contains information of class 12 results of various state and central boards. But for verifying caste certificates, the colleges rely on response from the issuing authorities.
