Poojary lauds State budget as great effort by Siddaramaiah

Last Updated 16 March 2015, 18:35 IST

Former union minister B Janardhan Poojary has claimed that State budget is not Ahinda budget, but is a great effort by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to make ‘Gareebi Hatao’ dream of former prime minister Indira Gandhi a reality.

Briefing reporters, on Monday , he said Mahatma Gandhi had advised the governments should not forget the downtrodden and Siddaramaiah has followed his words.

Including Dalit chief ministers like Mayawati, no chief ministers had declared free rice to poor. Even APL card holders will get rice and wheat in minimum price, he said.

The government has allocated Rs 16,204 crore to primary and higher education, Rs 12,596 crore to irrigation, Rs 297 crores to fishery, moreover the government has declared 15 per cent subsidy for loan up to Rs 2 lakh to tappers. It has decided to motivate to Neera tapers from coconut trees. The budget has provided justice to all. The government has earmarked Rs 16,356 crores for Dalits, to uplift them, mainly by providing education.

Injustice by Centre
Meanwhile, the former union finance minister said that the central government has cut funds to the state by around Rs 4,000 crores in this budget. The government had to release Rs 11,700 crores, but it released only Rs 7,031 crores which is meagre. The member of Parliaments from Karnataka without any party barriers should protest against the injustice done by the central government, else people will not forgive them, he said.

He suggested the CM to constitute a separate department to receive complaints from people regarding the implementation of the schemes by MLAs and MPs. “Kejriwal has shown the way. People should be able to complain about the corruption and cheating through their mobile phones. Media should do the work of watch dog and organisations should be more responsible in fighting against corruption,” he added.

Hindu Samajotsava
Janardhan Poojary came down heavily against Hindu organisations for conducting Hindu Samajotsava and inviting provocative speakers. They don’t know the holiness of the religion. Hindu always hates hatredness and loves social harmony and overall development.

The seers, who were at the dais had to know the value of their saffron cloth. Those who wear saffron should not spread hatredness, should not harass women or dance in TV programmes.
Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade stressed on peace and that should be the spirit of Hindus, he added. Meanwhile, Poojary targeted senior Congressmen and said that the party is following secular policy and workers should not let the communal forces grow.

IB working for BJP
Poojary condemned the alleged ‘spying’ by the Central government on Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi. He added that the government is spying on Congress leaders including Lok Sabha member Veerappa Moily. The intelligence bureau is working in favour of ruling BJP, he alleged and added that even he is receiving few unanimous calls from past two days and he may complain with mobile company.

Mayor Jacintha Vijay Alfred, Deputy Mayor Purushotham Chitrapur and others were present on the occasion.
