KPCC meeting to discuss hike in fees for members

State Congress president G Parameshwara has convened a meeting of KPCC office bearers and district party presidents to discuss a proposal to hike the membership fee to Rs 250 each from Re 1.

He will elicit views of the office bearers and the district presidents on the proposal and ways to collect the fee.

The party’s membership drive concluded last month. It has to devise a method to collect additional membership fee. The meeting will be held at KPCC main office on Queen’s Road in Bengaluru, the party sources said.

Though the membership drive has completed, final figures of members are yet to be compiled. The party high command has set a target of about 25 lakh members in the State. The party had directed to enrol at least 50 members in each of 46,000 booths, the sources added.

This apart, the State party has issued directions to party workers at all level to contribute money for the construction of new Congress Bhavan off Queen’s Road. All the party legislators, party office bearers and district presidents have been asked to contribute to the
