A 25-year-old man was shot dead by three motorcycle-borne assailants at a gym in outer Delhi’s Alipur on Tuesday.

Police suspect that the attack was carried out over property dispute.
They have identified the accused.

The victim has been identified as Arun Maan, who was unemployed and lived with his family in Alipur village.

Police said a call was made to the police control room around 8.50 am.
“Arun was attacked without any warning when he was in the gym near Rishi Kunj Public School in Alipur,” said a police officer.

Eyewitness told police that three men came on a motorcycle and opened indiscriminate firing.

Police said five bullets were fired from a country-made pistol, of which, one hit Arun in the abdomen.

“Despite the firing, one of the men at the gym threw a dumbbell at the attackers. It hit an accused on the head due to which he fell unconscious,” the officer added.
The man was later arrested and was identified as Manjeet.

Police, however, are yet to record his statement and are waiting for him to be declared medically fit for making a statement.

The other two accused also opened fire in the air to escape without being overpowered.

When police control room staff reached the spot, Arun and Manjeet were found injured.

They were taken to Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra Hospital, where Arun was declared brought dead.

A case of murder has been filed with Alipur police station under Indian Penal Code and Arms Act.

Arun’s body was handed over to his family after a post-mortem on Tuesday afternoon.

After questioning Arun’s family and friends, police have established that he was involved in several disputed properties.

It is also claimed that he had received several threats in the recent past.
“The exact sequence of events is yet to be ascertained,” the officer said.
