Cooperation sought for peaceful conduct of Hindu Samajotsava

Dalit community leaders urged the police department to provide security to general public during Hindu Samajotsava which will be organised by various Hindu organisations on March 1

.

Speaking at SC/ST grievances monthly meeting at City Police Commissioner’s office here on Sunday, Dalit leader Keshav said that precautions should be taken so that communal flare ups do not occur. Provocative speeches should be avoided, he said. 

Presiding over the meeting Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime and traffic) Vishnuvardhan said that the department has taken precautionary measures to maintain peace. He appealed to the public to cooperate with the police in maintaining law and order.

Dinesh alleged that there is no proper place for women to sleep in District Government Wenlock Hospital. There is no staff to inform public about the rules. As a result, women and men who do not possess pass have to sleep outside the hospital. They should provide accommodation at least for women. Information on the rules of the hospital should be displayed on the board.

Sumitra Umesh, a resident of Konaje who has been frequently complaining against her neighbours, accused the neighbours of harassing her. The DCP directed the ACP to submit a report on the case within three days.

Girish Ullal said cock fight is being organised in the city, especially in Kadri region, in the name of religious celebrations. Thousands of people gather to watch Natti Mane cock fight, he said.

District Dalit Associations Convenor Ashok Konchady said that in Kaibattalu of Kadri, builder Naveen Cardoza has encroached 51 cents of land belonged to Umanath Karkera. Though land injunction is done, which has ordered Naveen not to trespass, he has not respected it.

Ashok demanded for the police protection from the builder. However, Kadri police said that they can give protection only if they receive any order from the court.
