IOCL bunks to give printed bills

Last Updated 15 February 2015, 19:00 IST

Consumers buying fuel from the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) outlets in the City can now get a printed bill for every transaction.

This has been made possible with the IOCL introducing an automation system at its 73 retail outlets across the City on Sunday. Bengaluru is the first metro in the country to get the facility, according to IOCL officials.

Speaking to Deccan Herald,  R Karthik, Senior Divisional Retail Sales Manager, said the idea of the system was to ensure transparency. “The customer, after refilling fuel would be given a printed bill. The new system will also give the customer an assurance of quality and quantity,” he explained.

For the dealer, it helps cut down on the manual transactions. “Almost every 15 days in the recent past, there has been a rate revision. Through the automation system, the new rates can be fed immediately,” said Karthik.

B Ashok, Chairman, IOCL inaugurated the Bengaluru City Retail Outlet Automation initiative at its retail outlet Ms Sri Kalabyrava. With this, Karnataka now has five cities - Mangaluru, Mysuru, Ballari, Shivamogga and Bengaluru fully automated. The State already has 576 automated retail outlets and IOCL has plans to automate a total of 700 retail outlets by the end of the current fiscal.
