JOIN USRV College of Engineering (RVCE) beat Young Pioneer Cricket Club by 64 runs to emerge champions of the KSCA Group I (Division V) tournament for JB Mallaradhya Trophy here.
In their first innings, RVCE could only muster 190 in 54.3 overs with Vinay MGR (59) being the top scorer. Aman Khan (3/71) and Hemanth (3/24) shared six wickets between them to restrict RVCE to a small total. Young Pioneer CC were then bowled out for 175, conceding a first innings lead of 15 runs to their opponents.
In their second essay, RVCE were all out for 183, setting a target of 198. Aman Khan claimed a five-wicket haul (5/60) and Hemanth picked up three wickets (3/50) for Young Pioneer CC to give their batsmen a chance to go for a possible victory. Young Pioneer CC batsmen were troubled by a fine bowling performance from Piyush Singh (4/44) and were bundled out for 134 in 27.2 overs. In Young Pioneer CC’s chase, Vinod (21) played a cameo while Kodand Ram with a 33-run knock was the top scorer. Sharath BJ too contributed (32) but failed to convert his start to a big one and help his side cross the victory margin.
