Chouhan, Sidhu to fire up BJP poll campaign

Last Updated 29 January 2015, 03:41 IST

As Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu prepare to join the Delhi BJP campaign from Thursday, party’s New Delhi MP Meenakshi Lekhi said women issues will figure prominently in the party’s manifesto.

Congress leader V K Monga, who fought the last Assembly election against BJP’s Harsh Vardhan, on Wednesday joined the saffron party with some other leaders from east Delhi.
Lekhi told reporters that the poll promises to be released soon will also include solutions for tackling the problem.

She said on Wednesday an opposition political party talks about respect to women again and again but it is quite surprising that the three women who were connected as founder members of that party —  Kiran Bedi, Madhu Badhuri and Shazia Ilmi — have left that party.

Referring to mobile app Himmat launched by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh for the security of the women, Lekhi said the government is making efforts that all working women be provided complete security.

Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay said the party has complained to the Election Commission against seven radio advertisements of the Aam Aadmi Party in which the audience/voters are being misled to believe that these advertisements are authentic reporting or opinion of the voters.

BJP’s chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi staged roadshows in Karol Bagh, Rajender Nagar, Patel Nagar and Moti Nagar Assembly constituencies. Many central ministers also campaigned for the party.

Nupur Sharma, the party’s challenger against Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi, held an impromptu interaction with morning walkers near India Gate. Party’s Rohini candidate Vijender Gupta held padyatras during which 200 AAP workers joined the BJP
.
Meanwhile, focusing on four points to win the four Assembly seats in Delhi elections, Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and president of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday allocated duties of Punjab leaders, including Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia.
