JOIN USChief Minister Siddaramaiah assured the government employees that a decision to end the disparity in wages between State and Central government employees will be taken soon.
Addressing a huge gathering after inaugurating the State Government Employees Sports Meet in Mandya, on Wednesday, Siddaramaiah said that a discussion would be held with the officials concerned, and a suitable decision will be taken.
He said that the elected representatives and government staff were the employees of the people. The administration and the netas should work in tandem, to take the government schemes to the doorsteps of the people, he said.
It was necessary for the employees to involve themselves in sports activities, yoga and others to keep physically and mentally fit, he opined.
The government has introduced ‘Jyothi Sanjeevini’ scheme for the welfare of the employees and their families, he added.
Special package
District-in-charge Minister Ambareesh appealed to the Chief Minister that the government should announce a special package of Rs 500 crore for the upgradation of district stadium, construction of state-level sports hostel, Kabaddi arena, construction of swimming pool and others. Energy Minister D K Shivakumar released souvenir ‘Sakkare Seeme’ on the occasion.
Employees Association state unit president B P Manjegowda said that the disparity in wages between the State and Central government employees should be sorted out soon and added that equal pay had been implemented in 27 states in the country. “The State is in need of 6.4 lakh employees, whereas there are only 5.25 lakh employees in service. The government should take immediate action in this regard,” he said.
Minister Mahadev Prasad, MP C S Puttaraju, MLAs P M Narendraswamy, N Chaluvarayaswamy, K S Puttannaiah and other dignitaries were present.
On the occasion, Siddaramaiah announced Rs 10 crore for the construction of sports hostel, laying synthetic track, swimming pool and other development works.
