20 children injured in cylinder explosion

As many as 20 children suffered burn injuries in a cylinder explosion in front of an Anganwadi Centre at Indira Nagar in the town on Thursday.

 The incident occurred when a 5-kg gas cylinder kit fitted to an autorickshaw parked near an Anganwadi Centre went off. Four others, including an anganwadi teacher sustained burn injuries in the incident. 

After administering first aid, the injured students were shifted to Tumakuru district hospital and government hospital in Chikkanayakanahalli. Two students, who suffered severe burn wounds, have been shifted to Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru. The rest of the injured have been admitted to district hospital and government hospitals in Chikkanayakanahalli and Huliyar. 

District Legal Services Authority president N K Sudhindra Rao and member Siddalingaprabhu visited the district hospital and made arrangements to shift two victims to Victoria Hospital.
