My opponents shouldn’t take me lightly, said first daughter of the country Sharmistha Mukherjee after filing nominations in Jamnagar House, Shahjahan Road on Wednesday.

Daughter of President Pranab Mukherjee is contesting on a Congress ticket from Greater Kailash constituency.

Before heading to the nomination centre, she inaugurated her election office in Kailash Colony Market from where she proceeded to file her nomination papers with her supporters.

Speaking to the media, Sharmistha said, “Suraksha, Sugam and Sanskriti is my motto for the constituency.” She added that she is contesting on the local issues like maintenance of basic amenities to provide better quality of life, improved lighting and cleanliness. Also, problem of traffic and parking would form part of her key agenda for the constituency.

She said she will like to conduct a traffic survey of the constituency with help of experts to enable smooth flow and better parking.

Mukherjee also emphasised that she will set up a youth development fund along with the corporates for the betterment of youth in the constituency.

“Making a major part of constituency Wi-Fi enabled, community RO filter water, mobile health vans ensure supply and drainage for Chittaranjan Park fish markets are also a part of my vision,” Mukherjee added.

Soon after filing the nomination papers, she continued with her election campaign by visiting Khirki village. She appealed to them to vote for her so that she could represent that area better and work for the development of the constituency.

When asked about other parties considering her a pushover, she said, “It’s the biggest mistake to take any contender lightly. One never knows when things can change.”

Mukherjee added that the BJP’s wave will end soon. “It’s a natural phenomena, once a wave has reached its peak, it starts declining. It will happen with the Bharatiya Janata Party.”
