JOIN USTwo brothers, who were attending the Banashankari festival, drowned in Saraswati tank near the temple after they entered it for a bath on Monday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Madhu (22) and Manju (20), residents of Peenya in Bengaluru.
According to the police, Manju entered the water assuming there were steps below the water surface. Unaware of the depth, he lost balance and fell into the water. Madhu went forward to save his brother, but also lost balance and drowned, added the police.
The police said that they fished out the bodies from the tank with the help of the local residents. Devotees have urged the authorities concerned to build a fence around the tank and display warnings to caution the visitors, as such incidents have occurred in the past.
