One killed in Milad procession accident

One person was killed and four persons were injured in a road accident on KR Road during Sunday’s Eid Milad procession.

The deceased has been identified as Afsar Pasha, 45, a resident of Bada Makan on Siddaiah Road. The injured are: Baba Sharif, 28, Syed Afsar, 45, Aslam Pasha, 45 and Mallik Pasha, 40, all residents of Someshwarnagar.

Pasha was employed at a scrap shop, while the injured are construction labourers. They are being treated for fractures and are out of danger, said the police.

The accident occurred at 5.30 pm when the Eid Milad procession was moving towards YMCA grounds. A tempo-traveller with a tableau was part of the procession. The vehicle driver lost control and ran into Afsar Pasha and four others who were walking on pavement, the police said.

Pasha suffered major injuries as he came under the wheel. All the five were immediately taken to Victoria Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries after some time, said the police. The driver of the tempo-traveller is absconding and the police are on the lookout for him. A tense situation prevailed for a while after the incident.

Boy, 15, commits suicide
A 15-year-old boy committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his house in Kamakshipalya police limits on Monday, when his parents were away.

The victim Gururaj was the son of Jayanna, a Tempo driver, and Sujatha who works in an apparel store. He has left a suicide note stating that no one was responsible for his death, the police said.
