JOIN USAnisha Padukone stunned stroke play runner-up Nishtha Madan to storm into the semifinals of the Usha-IGU All India Ladies Amateur Golf Championship here on Friday.
Making the most of the home course advantage, Anisha produced one of her best performances to date in defeating Nishtha Madan 3&2 at the Eagleton Golf Resort.
In the semifinals on Saturday, the 23-year-old will take on Suchitra Ramesh, who held her nerve in edging past Trisha Sunil 2&1.
Top seed and favourite Aditi Ashok stayed on course with a 9&7 thrashing of Vidushi Sinha while her semifinal opponent Ridhima Dilawari defeated Amandeep Drall 3&2.
After winning two and losing two holes, Anisha kick-started her surge by claiming the ninth, 10th and 11th holes to go 3-up. Nishtha reduced the deficit in winning the 13th hole but Anisha, who had never gotten past the first knock-out round in her previous attempts, seized the lead back on the 14th.
On the dormie-3 16th, Nishtha sunk a birdie but Anisha sealed the issue with a superb 30-footer birdie.
