JOIN US Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has expressed hope that Hero MotoCorp may return to Karnataka.
According to him, the company is yet to receive concessions like land at throw away price and exemption from excise and income tax as promised by Andhra Pradesh.
Replying to questions by BJP’s Tara Anuradha in the Legislative Council, on Thursday, he said the company had sought 300 acre land at Mummigatti Village in Dharwad for motorcycle manufacturing unit with investment of Rs 1,450 crore.
Later they sought another 200 acre land and the government was ready to sanction besides offering other concessions. The State has written to the Centre that it should give whatever concessions it offers to Andhra Pradesh to Karnataka too. Hyderabad-Karnataka region deserves similar concessions that may go to newly formed states. If there is no such situation then it would lead to unhealthy competition. And, the same has been conveyed to the Prime Minister, he added.
Claiming that Karnataka was the best destination for investments in the country, he said companies from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and many firms including 53 pharma companies have sought land.
Barring Hero MotoCorp, no other company has moved outside the State. New industrial policy that had come into effect from October is the best in the country, he claimed.
He said campaign has been going to create an impression that industries are moving away from Karnataka. This is maligning the State.
