MEA sets up a helpline for Indians in Sydney

The Ministry of External Affairs has set up helpline +61 481 453550+61 481 453550+61 481 453550 for queries about Indian nationals in Australia in the light of the ongoing terror siege in Sydney. People can even contact Surinder Datta, deputy high commissioner at the Indian High Commission at Canberra, with any queries at: 0061 4196870080061 4196870080061 419687008.

As the standard precautionary measure, the MEA on Monday also evacuated its Sydney consulate on Monday.

A gunman took several people hostage at the Lindt Cafe in Sydney on Monday morning including one Indian, who works for Bengaluru-IT major Infosys.
