Kidnapped child found abandoned without any harm

A six-year-old boy, kidnapped from central Delhi’s Nabi Karim area on Monday evening, was recovered safely on Tuesday after his abductor abandoned him in Jamia Nagar, police said. The boy was found unharmed.

That, however, did not save abductor Mohd Rizwan, 27, who was arrested even after releasing the boy.

Rizwan was found to be a former employee of the kidnapped boy’s father who has a private business.

The kidnapping was reported with Nabi Karim police station at 3.25 am on Tuesday by the boy’s father Mohd Imran.

He told police that his son was missing since 5.30 pm on Monday and he feared that the boy was abducted.

Imran received a call the next day which confirmed his worst fears. His son was kidnapped and a ransom was demanded for his safe release.

Police launched a technical surveillance to trace the mobile phone number from which the call was received, and nabbed Rizwan.

Police said Rizwan revealed that under pressure from police, he abandoned the boy on a road in Jamia Nagar. But even after that, he allegedly continued making ransom calls to the boy’s parents, said police.

The boy was soon traced and handed him over to his parents on Wednesday morning. Rizwan told police that he planned the abduction to earn quick money.

After lifting the boy, he kept him overnight at Okhla. One mobile phone and five SIM cards used for making ransom calls were recovered from him.

The safe recovery follows two cases of abductions in the second half of last month in which both the boys were killed before they could be rescued by police.
