JOIN USSeven persons including three of a family were killed in two separate accidents in Chikkamagalur and Shivamogga districts on Tuesday.
Lakshmamma (60), her daughter Deepthi (39) and Deepthi’s son Vishnu (18) were killed on the spot when a private bus they were travelling by rammed a tree at Kattehole Cross near Tarikere in Chikkamagaluru district.
Halesh Naika (40) was also killed in the accident while 17 passengers sustained injuries. The impact of the crash was so severe that the tree had ripped the bus apart. Police and emergency service personnel had to use an earthmover to extricate the bodies from the mangled bus.
In another accident, three persons were killed in a head-on collision between a bike and a private bus near Bilavagodu village in Hangal taluk.
The deceased have been identified as Irshad (22), Pasha Makandar and Basha Dongre (38), all residents of Akki Alur in Sorab taluk. Sorab police have registered a case.
