Didi dares Centre, CBI after Srinjoy arrest

Trinamool Congress chairperson and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday lashed out at the Centre over the issue of the Saradha chit-fund scam investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Criticising the probe agency, she said that it has lost its credibility after its integrity was questioned by the Supreme Court, which recently directed CBI director to recuse himself from the 2G scam probe as evidence surfaced that he had interfered with the investigation.

With yet another Trinamool leader being sent to jail and a few others likely to follow suit, spirits in the Trinamool camp are rather low, said sources. This necessitated Banerjee to address a hastily-called party gathering at Netaji Indoor Stadium in the city on Saturday.
Addressing a full arena, Banerjee challenged the Centre to try and impose President’s Rule on the state, said this would be the only way the BJP could seize power in Bengal.

“It’s not easy to run the country. One has to love the country. Riots took place everywhere in last six months,” she said.Banerjee also announced that the Trinamool would organise a rally on November 24 from north to central Kolkata “against the Centre’s vindictive politics”.
