JOIN USA high school student allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a lake inside Lalbagh Botanical Gardens in Siddapura police limits on Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Kavya, a class X student of government high school in Hombegowdanagar. According to the police, Kavya was an orphan and hailed from Magadi. She was staying at Bosco Rainbow Home in Chamarajpet.
She was suffering from depression and had lost interest in life. She had left Bosco Rainbow Home twice without informing anybody, but had returned later, police said.
Kavya went missing since 3.30 pm on Tuesday. A few morning walkers noticed a girl’s body floating in the lake and called the police who rushed to the spot and retrieved the body.
“We shared the victim’s pictures with several schools in south division as she was a school girl. Some time later, her identity was established,” DCP (South) B S Lokesh Kumar told Deccan Herald. Kavya might have jumped into the lake towards evening. There was no death note and cause for the incident is yet to be ascertained, police said, admitting lapse on part of security guards on duty near the lake.
