MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has said that the work on Baikampady  bridge will be completed by January.

Speaking after releasing ‘Nooru Hejje’, activities and achievements of Dakshina Kannada MP as well as the achievements of the NDA government at the centre during 100 days in power here on Thursday, he said that the work on the bridge is in progress. The government will make all efforts to save MCF.

Union Minister for Fertilizers and Chemicals Ananth Kumar has placed a proposal to provide extension to MCF on extending subsidy for six months to continue production of urea using naphtha as feedstock.

“I am hopeful of the Central government taking a decision on the same soon. The government had said subsidy would not be paid to units for using naphtha as feedstock under the New Pricing Policy III beyond the deadline due to high cost of production. After the NDA government came to power, it had extended the subsidy to the MCF till September end.”

Jan Dhan success

Dakshina Kannada district has achieved 99 per cent in the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana. The district will reach cent per cent shortly.

As Dakshina Kannada will become first district in the country to achieve the feat, a celebration will be organised in Mangalore.

“I have asked an appointment with Union Minister of State for Finance Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers Ananth Kumar. I will meet them within 15 days to invite them for success of Jan Dhan celebrations in Mangalore.”

According to the information provided in the book, the MP has visited 137 villages in the constituency in the last 100 days.  The MP has raised 86 questions and participated in eight interactive sessions. Under the first phase of MPLAD, 83 development works worth Rs 2.50 crore have been submitted to the government.

“This time prominence will be given to tourism and road development.  Tender process has been completed for the development of Shiradi Ghat road. Proposals have been submitted to develop NH 48 and NH 13 that passes through the district. Proposals have been submitted to upgrade few routes including BC Road- Mulki road which connects NH 48 and NH 17, Udupi-Sullia, Maani- Ullal and Mulki- Periyashanti roads,”  he said.

The MP said that he has submitted a proposals to the Air India to start services to Mangalore- Bangalore-Pune, Mangalore- Bangalore- Delhi and Mangalore- Bangalore- Hubli.  District BJP unit President Pratap Simha Nayak said that during the last tenure the MP had to face unnecessary criticisms because he worked without expecting any publicity.
