JD(S) to stage protest in November: HDK

Last Updated 26 October 2014, 17:35 IST

Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has said that the JD(S) will stage a protest against the anti-people and anti-farmer policy of the State government in the month of November.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday, he said that farmers have lost crops for heavy rain and drought. Several houses have been damaged following untimely rain in North Karnataka. The government has failed to tackle the issue.

“The onion prices have come down drastically. Farmers are getting ready to stage a protest. The Horticulture Minister should convene a meeting of the sub committee and impress upon Chief Minister to solve the problem.”

“The State government has been issuing statement that 90 per cent of the promises have been fulfilled. However, development works in the State have come to a standstill. The Assembly Speaker himself has pulled up the ministers. The Congress-led government is one of the worst governments in the State,” he said.

Stating that there was no difference of opinion among the leaders in the JD(S), former chief minister said that the party is strong. State-level party office-bearers list will be ready on November 5. Core committee has been constituted after consulting H D Deve Gowda.

Energy minister flayed

Former chief minister said that Energy Minister D K Shivakumar has no detailed information on his department. Shivakumar has no knowledge on the amount of electricity generated in the state and the demand.
