Three of a family ended their lives in a suicide pact at Gadadinni village near Almatti in Bagalkot taluk on Thursday night.
The deceased have been identified as Renukappa Mallappa Sunagar (75), his wife Yallavva Renukavva Sunagar (55) and their daughter Gangubai Renukappa Sunagar (27). Police suspect that mounting debts and family disputes might have driven the three to suicide. Gangubai was an MA second year student.
A suicide letter, purportedly written by Gangubai, said that no one was responsible for her death. It also names the persons from whom the family had borrowed money, the police said.
