T R Swamy passes away

T R Swamy, former State wrestler and administrator, passed away here on Thursday. He was 83.

Swamy, who had represented Mysore University and the erstwhile Mysore State, worked tirelessly to promote the sport while donning various roles as an administrator.

He was former president and secretary of the Karnataka Wrestling Association, former Senior vice-president, former joint secretary and former treasurer of the Wrestling Federation of India.

Swamy managed the Indian team at various international meets and was the coach and manager of the Indian wrestling team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. He is survived by a son and four daughters.
