Indian ace Saina Nehwal crashed out in the quarterfinals of the Yonex Denmark Open after suffering a straight game loss to China’s Shixian Wang here on Friday.

The World No 7, who has endured fluctuating season so far, once again flattered to deceive, going down 20-22, 15-21 to the World No 2 Chinese in 45 minutes.

Meanwhile, Chinese superstar Lin Dan has withdrawn from the tournament due to a knee injury.

Lin withdrew shortly before his duel against third-seeded Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark on Thursday due to a knee injury suffered in the first round.

“I’m really sorry that I had to withdraw. I had problems with my knee after the game Wednesday, and it became worse during the training Thursday,” Lin said.

Lin’s withdrawal meant Jorgensen advanced to the quarterfinals.

Jorgen expressed disappointment that he did not get a match against the five-time world champion Lin, but welcomes the fact that he is now going further in the tournament.

“I’m disappointed. I would have really liked to play this game. It is the match you live and breathe for, so I would have really liked to be in action against him here at home,” Jorgensen said.
